The Griffin’s Nicaragua Short Torpedo

The Griffin’s Nicaragua Short Torpedo

The Griffin’s Nicaragua Short Torpedo 300 189 Giuseppe Mitolo

Although the name could suggest a Nicaraguan puro, the Griffin’s Nicaragua uses the homonym tobacco as one of the filler leaves and wrapper. The Short Torpedo is the smallest out of the line, which also includes a Robusto and Gran Toro.

The Griffin’s Nicaragua Short Torpedo: flavors of the cold draw are floral and honey, with a slight hint of spices and earth.

The opening is salty and bitter, both flavors playing on a sweet level. While the perceptible aromas are only few, they are easy to distinguish: black pepper and earth are mildly pronounced, with a hint of honey. Strength is medium-light (2/5).

During the central part the smoke becomes distinctly salty, abandoning the bitter note. Aromatically, the cigar increases the intensity of the earth and evolves in to wood (equally present as the earth) and coffee, less intense. Strength increases, becoming medium (3/5).

This size doesn’t offer ulterior changes during the last third.

Overall, considering the size, the Short Torpedo offers a more then discrete and satisfying smoke. The aromas, albeit quantitatively poor, are well defined and supported by a balanced strength, which makes the smoke extremely balanced. What suffers, as already mentioned, is the evolution. Suggested for a breaks or a  quick after meal.
