Romeo y Julieta Petit Royales 1600 900 Luca Cominelli

The Romeo y Julieta Petit Royales was introduced in 2017 and has expanded the range of products that are part of this Cuban brand’s already vast portfolio. These cigars are sold both in 25-ct boxes and in packs of three tubos. The short size (Vitola de Galera Caprichos) is designed to offer a particularly quick smoke.

Visually, the Romeo y Julieta Petit Royales is wrapped in a shiny Colorado wrapper that is smooth to the touch. The craftsmanship is great, with a generous filling throughout various examples tested.

Romeo y Julieta Petit Royales

Romeo y Julieta Petit Royales: the cold draw reveals a single, clear, earthy note. Once lit, the cigar immediately releases a vegetal note of good intensity.

Romeo y Julieta Petit Royales

In the first half, earth and vegetal notes reach the palate, which alternate throughout the first half of the smoke. The profile is supported by wood and nuts. Strength is slightly below medium-bodied (2.5/5).

There is not much change in the second half, compared to the previous one. However, there is a bitter taste that gradually increases, to the point of stop smoking the cigar before what the format could have allowed. Strength grows rather rapidly in the second half, reaching a medium-full level (4/5).

Overall, the Romeo y Julieta Petit Royales is a rather contained cigar in terms of flavors and with some flaws. The bitter tone that dominates the profile and the limited flavors lead the smoker to choose something else. There are similar, and certainly more interesting, products within the Habanos portfolio.
