The appeal of the varnished 898 box and the remembrance of one of the most valued puro on the collectors market, unleashed the desire of World aficionados in such a way that the first production batch beat every record in terms of sales quickness.
At sight the capa is a shiny, reddish Colorado one. By touching it, it appears quite silky, with minor and light veinss. Global manufacturing looks proper, and the filling appears correctly spread over the cylinder.
Ramon Allones 898 ER Alemania: before to light it up, light aromas of wood, walnut and pepper reach the nose.
The smoke starts with evident mineral notes, with a dry smoke which drains the mouth within few minutes after the start of the fruition. Aromas are paying back the price of young tobacco, since the dominant note is an ammonia, almost suffocating the pepper, wood, walnut and leather aromas. Strength is medium – light (2/5).
The second tercio enriches the initial mineral character with a slightly acidic note, which helps in decreasing the dry sensation in the mouthgenerated by the smoke. From an aromas point of view, near to the ammonia note, together with the walnut and the wood hints (with similar intensity), balsamic notes stand out, also with a remote bready nuance. Strength increases, reaching a medium intensity (3/5).
The last tercio is the extension of the central part since ammonia, walnut, wood and balsamic characters tastes and aromas are the same, even though they are enriched by an herbal hint confirming the young age of the tobacco used. No variations in the body (3/5).
Globally, the Teutonic 898 is a very good cigar when excluding the ammonia note which is present all the way through the smoke. At this stage, complexity, elegance of aromas palette and evolution, as well as balance and after-smoke persistence, can be appreciated. We are convinced that by ensuring the cigar the correct humidor aging time, this dalia would pay back to the smoker the waiting time.
