The Plasencia Alma del Fuego Concepcion is the Toro size of the Plasencia red line, produced in Nicaragua. The red color recalls precisely the “Fuego” (fire), which is due to the presence of leaves grown on the island of Ometepe, famous for its volcanic soil, and for the spicy note that is the signature of these tobaccos. The Concepcion was classified as the second best cigar produced in Nicaragua in 2019 (more information in the 2019 Awards). The cigars are sold in 10-count boxes.
The cigars are rolled in a Colorado Maduro shade wrapper, that is rough to the touch. The construction is excellent and the cigars appear slightly box-pressed and the foot of the cigar is closed.

Plasencia Alma del Fuego Concepcion: unlit, faint hints of earth and pepper are perceived. The little flavor is due to the closed foot, which makes only a few aromas come through. The opening reveals earth and mineral, on a suave peppery base.
The first third brings roasted and earthy notes to the palate, which are enriched by notes of coffee beans and hot spices. The smoke is thick and almost pasty. Strength is already medium-full (4/5).
The central section gives rise to a blast of hot spices, which are the true protagonists of this third, followed by notes of leather and balsamic herbs. The finish is very long and pleasantly spicy. Strength is growing slightly, just enough to reach the full level (4.5/5).
The final third of the smoke develops an intense mix of balsamic herbs and hot spices. The roasted note of coffee remains clearly perceptible, but it has moved to the background. The strength remains constant (4.5/5) resulting in a satisfying as well as balanced finish.
Overall, the Plasencia Alma del Fuego Concepcion releases a remarkable flavor intensity paired with a very long finish. The use of tobacco grown in Ometepe is particularly perceptible and these leaves literally make this blend as good as it is. A great cigar.
