The Mi Querida Triqui Traca was released in September 2019 as an extension of the Mi Querida brand (marked with a golden ring on a blue background). Compared to the latter, the Triqui Traca on paper looks to be fuller in body due to the addition of a special Dominican Ligero leaf. In fact, Triqui Traca is Spanish for fireworks.
The line is made up of four sizes, all distinguished by numbers, including No. 552, a Robusto size. They are sold in 20-ct boxes.
The cigars are rolled in an opaque Maduro wrapper, with brown reflections. To the touch, it is silky with little noticeable veins. The weight suggests a generous and uniform filling. In fact, the draft is slightly tight. Excellent construction.

Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 552: unlit, it reveals clear aromas of ripe fruit, and less marked notes of spices and earth are perceived as well.
Once lit, it immediately strikes a noteworthy spiciness, clearly perceptible on the palate. It expresses rich wood notes, followed by a less intense black pepper aroma, cocoa, and earth. Strength is immediately full (5/5).
Compared to the opening, the central section retains the sapidity but not the tactile sensation of spiciness. While the notes of wood and earth are still present, it also reveals mineral notes and a fleeting balsamic nuance. Strength remains unchanged (5/5).
Nothing changes in the composition of the flavors in the last third. Aromas of wood and earth are confirmed, followed by a spicy explosion that joins the last couple of puffs. Strength remains full (5/5).
Summing up, when a product is presented to the public for its strength, the risk is to go towards a rough smoke, with a strength dominating the flavors. On the other hand, this Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 552 surprises a noteworthy flavor intensity, which manages to keep up with the strength from the first puff pedal to the metal. The first third is very interesting, with a sustained and unexpected spiciness. The cigar’s only flaw is the evolution that collapses at the end of the second third. A last third with more varied aromas would have made the smoke even more interesting. It is a good smoke as is, but not for everyone.
