La Colmena (“the beehive”) is one of the lines from Warped Cigars. In the last months, next to the two references of the line, the Black Honey returned, first released in 2015, for a limited run of 600 cigars. Black Honey uses the same wrapper then the EL OSO line, while binder and filler are from the La Colmena line.

Visually, the wrapper is of a Colorado Maduro shade. The touch is stimulated by the rather smooth leaf and the veins can be barely felt. Overall manufacture is more than satisfactory.
Warped Cigars La Colmena Black Honey:Â to the nose there are notes of dried flower and dried yellow fruits (prunes and apricots), both well defined and of equal strength.
In the opening the smoke is delicate, played on a duet between sapid and sweet. The aromas released during the first puffs recall spices and honey, both well structured, and a delicate hint of wood. Strength is composed and on a medium-light level (2/5).
The note of honey is firm and defined, followed by walnut on a background of spices and mineral. Strength remains unchanged (2/5).
Ultimately, given the length of the cigar, the Black Honey is more than satisfactory. Aromatically, it is intriguing for how the nuances are well blended. The balance of strength / aromas is perfect and is not astringent at all. A cigar suitable for the early hours of the morning.
