On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of J.C. Newman, the Newman family is introducing a new logo and brand.

The company was founded in 1895 by the great-grandfather of the company’s general counsel, Drew Newman. At the time the full name was “J.C. Newman Cigar Company “. In 1927, it merged and the company became M. & N. Cigar Manufacturers, Inc. Following the transfer of the company to the city of Tampa in 1953, the factory was known as the Standard Cigar Company.

In more recent times, that is in 1997, the top management withdrew the name “M. & N. ” and “Standard” to reintroduce the name “J.C. Newman ”, introducing the logo used to date. “After 23 years, we think it’s time to update our brand again,” commented Drew Newman.

“With our new branding, we have kept the historic J.C. Newman Cigar Co. font as a connection to our company’s history,” said Newman.  “We modernized and simplified our clock tower logo, which reflects our work to restore our historic El Reloj cigar factory in Tampa.  We’ve included 1895 to show our company’s longevity.  We choose gold as our primary color to reflect the fact that we handcraft high-quality products and provide exceptional customer service.”
