HVC has been releasing the Black Friday, an annual limited release dedicated to the craziest sales day in the US, since 2015. It is a single-sized release, and the HVC Black Friday 2019 is limited to 400 fifty-count boxes. Like almost every line from HVC, the Black Friday is produced at the TABSA factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.
This Small Robusto size is rolled in a smooth, and oily Colorado Maduro shaded wrapper. Construction doesn’t present any flaws, and the cigar is generously filled.

HVC Black Friday 2019: the cold draw brings a mix of wood and cocoa to the palate. Once lit, the cigar opens with notes of spices.
The wood and cocoa notes carry over into the first third and are supported by notes of cinnamon. Strength is medium (3/5).
The second third has the wood and cocoa note still as the main flavors, but the cinnamon morphed into black pepper notes. An espresso notes appear toward the end of the second half. Strength stays on the medium level.
In the last third, the espresso note becomes more dominant and follows right behind the wood and black pepper note. The cocoa has disappeared, and a mineral nuance takes its place. Strength increases slightly (3.5/5).
Overall, the HVC Black Friday 2019 is a good smoke. It is balanced with a solid flavor profile, but it lacks depth and complexity—a good short smoke.
