Named after the ancient city of Aksum, a place steeped in history and legend, this brand embodies the essence of Foundation Cigar Company’s commitment to tradition and innovation. The decision to rebrand reflects a deeper connection to the brand’s inspiration—the Ark of the Covenant—and its symbolic journey.
Nicholas Melillo, Founder of Foundation Cigars, expressed his excitement about the rebranding: “Aksum represents a significant chapter in our journey, paying homage to the sacred history associated with the Ark of the Covenant. The blend remains the same as Metapa & testament to our unwavering dedication to providing a unique and memorable smoking experience.” The image on the box and band of Aksum is that of Haile Selassie’s Father, Ras Makonnen, who was once governor of Aksum. He is regarded as one of the great leaders of Abyssinia and confidant to Emperor Menelik II. The cigars will be available for shipping later this week to cigar shops around the US. The line will also be showcased at the upcoming PCA trade show in Las Vegas this March 23rd, 2024.
