Flor de Selva Egoista 1600 900 Luca Cominelli

The Flor de Selva Egoista is a cigar produced in Honduras, by Maya Selva Cigares. The Egoista is the smallest size among those with the brand’s 20th anniversary bands. The cigar is a Honduran Puro: a Habano wrapper from the Jamastran region, binder from Azacualpa and Olancho, and the filler is made up of Honduran tobaccos from various regions.

Aesthetically, the cigars bear two large bands, which cover a good part of the cigar. Red is now added to the classic cream-white aesthetic, to underline how these cigars belong to a brand that has over twenty years of history. To the touch, the Egoista is generously filled and the construction is good.

Flor de Selva Egoista

Flor de Selva Egoista: the cold draw releases some wooden nuances. The opening brings sweet notes of cedar wood to the palate.

Flor de Selva Egoista

The first half of the smoke confirms the cedar wood from the opening, which is now also flanked by white pepper. As the smoke progresses, the woody component becomes smokey, and an intense note of nuts is outlined, where peanuts stand out. Strength is medium (3/5).

In the second half, the flavor profile undergoes an involution, due to the particularly short size. The white pepper component is brought to the foreground and sometimes covers the remaining flavors. Strength remains constant even towards the end (3/5).

Overall, the Flor de Selva Egoista releases a good smoke in the first half. It becomes sometimes unbalanced in the second half, where the spicy component covers the other aromas. A decent short smoke.
