Davidoff Robusto Intenso LE 2020

Davidoff Robusto Intenso LE 2020: a decent amount of spice and wood are well present in the cold draw. Upon lighting, the cigar opens with intense spicy notes and cedarwood.

Further into the first third, the spice, mainly black pepper, is the main flavor. It is sometimes overwhelming the rest of the flavor profile a bit, which is made up of wood and hazelnut. Strength is a solid medium-plus (3.5/5).

The second third sees the pepper note mellowing out a bit. This allows other flavors, next to the wood and hazelnut, to come through a bit more, such as cocoa and citrus peel. There is also an underlying sweetness perceptible. Strength is still medium-plus.

In the last third, the flavors profile starts to ramp up in intensity. The sweetness has disappeared, and a light bitterness starts to creep up. Strength has jumped up to medium-full (4/5).

Overall, the Davidoff Robusto Intenso LE 2020, as the name suggests, is in terms of flavor quite intense. The cigar shines in the second third, with a smooth and balanced, yet pronounced, flavor profile. But the cigar shows its youth in the first third, where the flavor profile is quite unbalanced, and the last, where it starts to become slightly bitter. The cigar will benefit from some rest time in the humidor.
