Cohiba Exquisitos 1600 900 Luca Cominelli

The Cohiba Exquisitos is a Cuban cigar that was introduced to the market in 1989. Until the early 90s, these cigars were sold wrapped in cellophane. Despite the slim ring gauge, this cigar doesn’t boast a long history.

The cigars are wrapped up in a colorado claro leaf, smooth to the touch. Considering the price and the fact that Cohiba is the Cuban flagship brand, construction is not perfect, and touching the cigar, the filling is not particularly homogenous, revealing not only a few soft spots. However, this is in part due to the slim format of the Exquisito.

Cohiba exquisitos

Cohiba Exquisitos: light scents of wood to the cold draw. The first few puffs are acidic.

Cohiba exquisitos

The first third reveals smoky notes and earth. Strength is a bit below the medium level (2.5/5).

The middle third continues on the aromas of earth, now enriched by vegetal hints. In the background, there is a note of walnut. Strength doesn’t change (2.5/5).

The last third delivers earthy notes, together with balsamic herbs, the latter becoming more and more pronounced getting closer to the finale. Strength is medium (3/5).

Overall, the Cohiba Exquisitos is equipped with a decent flavor profile, and a discrete evolution is also perceptible. However, the “Cohiba” mellow flavors are not there and the smoke is quite rustic and far from the brand’s standards. There are way better Cohiba to smoke.
