Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 50 Years Robusto: the cold draw reveals vegetal hints and the draw is easy. First few puff are woodsy, accompanied by subdued notes of coffee and cinnamon.
The wood notes from the opening remain in the first third. Continuing, a light black pepper note appears on the palate. The smoke is ample, creamy and slightly sweet. Strength is medium low (2,5/5).
In the beginning of the second third the mix of coffee/wood evolves into soft flavors of cocoa, with hints of earth, while the pepper stays secondary. Strength reaches a medium level (3/5).
The final third sees first the removal of the first band, the one reporting the anniversary; flavors of coffee are back in the picture, followed by leather and faint spicy notes. A bitter note is perceptible in the finale, which is a prelude the conclusion of the smoke. Strength doesn’t change (3/5).
Overall, the Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 50 Years Box Pressed is a balanced cigar, but with contained flavors; the evolution is more or less discreet. From the point of view of the smoking dynamic, it results unexceptionable: light, combustion and draw don’t present any problems and the ash falls off only at the beginning of the last third. Post smoke reproposes the slight spicy earth.
