The wrapper is of a shiny Colorado Maduro tonality. The eye, however, gravitates towards the particular and sought after band: not paper, but curl up tobacco rolled around the cigar, trademark of this CAO.

It feels quite smooth to the touch, with fairly pronounced veins. The general manufacture is good and the filling is generous and even.

CAO Amazon Basin: unlit, this Toro shows its particularity with strong citrus scents (Bergamot in particular), with hints of damp earth and floral nuances.

The opening is acidic, with a salty background. Strength is light (1/5).

In the second third the acidity softens slightly, to become equal to the saltiness. Aromatically, this is the most convincing third of the cigar, with the chestnut, citrus fruits and mineral notes, on a background of walnut and wood. Strength undergoes a vigorous increase towards a medium body (3/5).

The cigar becomes more balanced in the final third, with a saltiness of good intensity, completed by a pinch of acidity and sweetness. Strength increases further, reaching the medium – full level (4/5).

Overall, this Amazon Basin is an unconventional smoke, and the use of the Braganca tobacco is definitely noticeable. Excellent intensity and evolution, which offers a mix of uncommon flavors. The balance borderline at times, but the cigar never unravels. Intense and fulfilling.
