Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Toro 1600 900 Giuseppe Mitolo

The Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Toro is part of the latest releases from Joya de Nicaragua. Attributable to the “Obras Maestras” line, the Cinco de Cinco line celebrates the 55 years of activity of the oldest company in Nicaragua. Cinco de Cinco was officially presented at the 2023 PCA, and between September and October, the first cigars began to reach markets worldwide. Although the production offers five modules, two (the Robusto and the Doble Corona) are reserved for the non-US markets.

The blend consists of a Mexican San Andres wrapper, which Joya de Nicaragua defines as “ultra vintage”, over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. All cigars are box-pressed and sold in elegant 10-ct lacquered boxes.

The cigar comes in an opaque Maduro-colored wrapper with brown reflections. To the touch, it is smooth with little marked veins. The construction appears excellent, with a box-pressed shape that is not too exaggerated. The draw is slightly open.

Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Toro: intense earthy aromas are perceptible in the cold draw, followed by notes of hazelnut and hay, with nuances of cocoa.

Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Toro 3

Once lit, the smoke is savory on the palate while aromatically it returns well-defined notes of spices and bitter almond, enriched with earthy and balsamic nuances. The strength is medium (3/5).

In the central section, both palatal perception and strength do not vary (3/5). The aromas confirm the presence of bitter almond, balsamic hints and earth (the latter more intense than the previous third), with the addition of a cocoa flavor and mineral nuances.

A delicate and enjoyable bitterness also appears in the last third alongside the prevailing sapidity. The bitter almond note becomes intense against a background of balsamic herbs and earth. An evident black pepper note appears as well. The strength increases slightly (3.5/5).

Overall, the Joya de Nicaragua Cinco de Cinco Toro is a very particular smoke, with sometimes unusual aromas but well integrated into the flavor profile. The balance between strength and aromas is perfect.
