Daniel Guerrero, a Spaniard hailing from Barcelona, created the El Viejo Continente brand. His father, and then he himself, owned a well-known and long-established tobacco shop. However, he had to give up his store due to health reasons. After his recovery, he promised himself and his wife to take it easy and decided to create his own cigar brand. The cigars are made at the Tabacalera American Caribbean Cigars S.A. in Esteli, Nicaragua.
This stubby cigar is dressed in a dark Colorado shaded wrapper with a decent amount of tooth. The finish of the head is a bit sloppy, but the remaining construction is good.

El Viejo Continente Brevium: the cold draw brings aromas of wood and cocoa to the palate. Once lit, it opens with roasted notes and wood.
Continuing, the first half circles around a mix of wood, cocoa, and coffee. The smoke is creamy, and the base is quite sweet. Strength is medium-light (2/5).
The second half continues with the complex combination of wood, cocoa, and roasted coffee. Nutty notes appear in the background, joined by light nuances of white pepper. The base remains sweet until the last puff. Strength increases slightly but isn’t quite medium-bodied (2.5/5).
Overall, the El Viejo Continente Brevium is a round and well-balanced cigar. The flavors are pronounced and complex, while it is surprisingly not as strong as expected. A good smoke to pair with the morning coffee.
