H. Upmann Half Corona 1600 900 Giuseppe Mitolo

The Half Corona is the smallest cigar produced in the H. Upmann portfolio. It was launched in 2011 and offered for sale in twenty-five-count boxes, which was followed, a year later, by the five-count tins.

The cigar is rolled in a slightly opaque Colorado shaded wrapper, with red highlights. To the touch, it is rather smooth, with slightly pronounced veins. Nothing to complain about the filling and the draw. The construction is great.

H.Upmann Half Corona

H. Upmann Half Corona: aromas of spices and earth on the nose, enriched by a light woody component.

H.Upmann Half Corona

The opening of the cigar is delicately sapid. Well-defined balsamic aromas develop, with woody and spicy nuances. Strength is medium-light (2/5).

The second half reveals a richer sweet taste that is balanced with the initial sapidity. The cigar evolves with notes of cocoa, spices, and wood, followed by a balsamic nuance. Strength increases slightly becoming medium-bodied (3/5).

If you choose such a short cigar you are aware of wanting to enjoy a good smoke, perhaps sacrificing evolution a little. On the other hand, this Half Corona also manages to offer an appreciable change of flavors, all without ever becoming unbalanced and always remaining composed. Perfect for a moment of morning relaxation or a quick after lunch.
