La Barba is a boutique brand owned by Tony Bellatto, created at Tabacalera William Ventura, in the Dominican Republic. The Ricochet line was born with the intent of Bellatto, who is also a sommelier, to transmit sensations perceived through the tasting of wines. Hence the use of the term “crü”. This line launched in 2019, consisting of four sizes, including the Torpedo.

La Barba Ricochet Torpedo

Visually, the cigar is rolled in a bright Colorado shaded wrapper. It is smooth to the touch with very light veins. The overall workmanship is average, the foot seems to reveal a somewhat lackluster filling and the touch also confirms this. The draw, in fact, appears slightly open.

La Barba Ricochet Torpedo

La Barba Ricochet Crü Mexi Sol Torpedo: unlit, you can perceive cocoa and wood aromas, quite intense, followed by spicy nuances.

La Barba Ricochet Torpedo

The opening is characterized by sapid and acid flavors, not very pronounced, enriched by a nice spicy sensation, that disappears after a few minutes. The bouquet is made of nuts, together with an important spicy note and wood bark. Strength is medium (3/5).

In the central part the flavors overall remain unchanged. The cigar turns towards notes of cellulose and wood bark, with a touch of walnut. Strength increases slightly (4/5).

The last third is practically identical to the second one, nothing changes, neither in flavor nor in strength (4/5).

Overall, the La Barba Ricochet Crü Mexi Sol develops good flavors, which however are not much refined and lack in evolution, especially between the central and the final third. Harmony is not its best characteristic.
