Diamond Crown Black Diamond Radiant 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Diamond Crown Black Diamond line was created by the collaboration between the Newman and Fuente family. The Funtes also grow the filler tobacco, that is then aged for at least five years. Everything is then dressed in a Connecticut Sun Grown Havana wrapper. This line is produced in limited quantities and only offered to 150 stores in the US,

Visually, the wrapper is of a dark Colorado Maduro shade and has some tooth to it. It could almost pass as a Broadleaf wrapper. Construction is good.

Black Diamond Radiant

Diamond Crown Black Diamond Radiant: the cold draw bring spices and ripe fruits fruits to the palate. Once lit, the cigar starts off with a toasted sweetness of coffee and cocoa.

Black Diamond Radiant

The flavors of coffee and cocoa are the main flavors in the first third, joined by notes of earth, pepper and wood. Strength is just barely short of medium bodied (2,5/5).

In the second third, a dried fruit component is added to the palate. The wood note disappears and as soon as that happens, the profile becomes sweeter. Strength is now on a solid medium level (3/5).

While the flavors in the last third are the same, they have now increased in intensity, with the pepper moving to the front. Strength increases slightly (3,5/5).

Overall, the Diamond Crown Black Diamond Radiant is well balanced cigar, with a very “dark” flavor profile. Said flavors are well defined, but in parts they are slightly static. A little evolution would have benefited the smoke.
