La Flor Dominicana La Volcada: the cold draw reveals delicate notes of cocoa, hazelnut and earth.

It starts out with a sweet taste, with some salty hints, with well defined notes of earth, wood bark and minerals. All this is supported by walnut and leather in the background. Strength is medium – light (2/5).

Getting in to the second third, the saltiness pulls even with the sweetness. A slight acidic note appears, that rounds out the smoke. Aromatically, the cigar evolves discretely, and in addition to the notes of wood bark and earth appear coffee and cocoa. Strength increases, becoming medium (3/5).

The final third reveals a long continuation of the second third, both in flavor and in intensity. Wood bark and earth are omnipresent, paired with a light hint of spices. Strength stays medium (3/5).

Despite the great performance in the first third, the cigar is rather static. The evolution, even if perceivable, is limited to a few flavors. Intensity and persistency are great, as well as the balance between flavors and strength. The burn line is slightly irregular and requires a few touch ups.
